Not a bad radio, has some issues. By
The radio has good and bad points. It is reasonably easy to program from its own keypad, but the Wouxun software is awful. CHIRP doesn't support it as of February 2019. The only other option is the pricey RT Systems software. The radio has good audio on both receive and transmit, but when running mobile with an outside antenna, the receiver picks up interference that my Baofengs and Yaesus don't. I'm not sure how well the squelch settings work, as there doesn't seem to be a difference between 1 and 9. The display is more of a gimmick than a benefit, and even though it looks nice in low light, it washes out in sunlight. A less graphics-rich, more-readable display would be better. Battery life is reasonable, and the display tells you battery voltage. The stock antenna is a weak point. The SWR on all three bands is way too high, so I replaced it with a longer Jetstream triband antenna that has acceptable SWR across all three bands. The manual is typical of Chinese radios, although somewhat better than others. I won this radio, so I can't balk at the price, but it is not a $179 radio.

Nice Tri band Radio By
The radio itself seems to be "Good Stuff". Once you figure out the sequence for programming without a computer, figure out the AA battery case dose work with this radio, ect. As a complete package, Radio, cable, SW (free), and Drivers for the cable. It has a bit to go to be "Prefect". I'll write a review for the cable too, but, it should be plug and play, not figure out how to install drivers ect, but it does work. The software needs a serious update, it DOES NOT pull from any list for programming, Repeaterbook, or any other, CSV? forget about it. SO you have to manually enter all repeater settings... Not what I call fun, that's a lot of work.
3 stars because as a full package it needs a lot of work that all other systems I have already do. the radio itself does a lot and I would not shy away from it.

Radio works well, relatively easy to program either ways, manually or through software.  It is mainly used as a back up for my kenwood thf6. But there are a couple of things I am not happy with, there is no battery eliminator for this unit and there is no direct connection to the radio for charging it.
