Installation Instructions

  1. Unplug the power supply from the mains supply outlet.
  2. Select the correct input voltage (See Input Voltage Selection).
  3. Connect the power cable’s positive (red) wire to the positive terminal and connect the negative (black) wire to the negative terminal on the back of the power supply.
  4. Plug the AC power cable into the power socket on the back of the radio.
  5. Plug the power supply into the main AC wall outlet.

Turning the power supply on
Turn the power supply on by pressing the power switch to the 'ON' Position.

Turning the power supply off
Before you turn the power supply off, turn the radio off as described in the user documentation for the radio. Then turn the power supply off by pressing the power switch to the 'OFF' Position.

Cooling
The SPS-30DM power supply is cooled by convection and forced air cooling (normal airflow around the power supply in combination with a temperature controlled fan to improve cooling at higher levels of use). The fan is temperature activated and the speed is controlled by a sensor. When the temperature rises, the fan speed increases.

Customer Reviews
Solid and very reliable By
The SPS-30DM is solid as a rock and very reliable.

Nice engineering for sure.

Better than expected! By
Let’s face it, I bought this for the big LED display after already owning another high quality name brand supply that’s served me well for the last five years and was very happy with. I had some reservations because a couple of previous reviews said that the power supply would overshoot on voltage during power up. The one I received does not do that. I’ve checked it with a top of the line Fluke meter and a trusty Simpson analog meter.

The other enticing thing that made me purchase this was it was on sale during Christmas. I’ve pushed it pretty hard with a couple of RTTY and CW contests and it’s never skipped a beat. If the gas has come on during a contest I have not heard it. Maybe pushing it for a while running FT8 would make a difference.  The voltage adjust is a nice feature but not much use to me in this particular application. The steady 14-14.1 voltage is compatible with all of the equipment that I own which seems to be 13.8, +/-15%.
I don’t see any noise from the supply on any of my radios.
The only drawback to this is I’d like to see it sell for a little less. While it’s a great power supply @ $160 that’s pushing it.  I would probably own a second one if the price was just a little lower.

One of the Best Available By
I have used this PSU for over six months, powered on 24/7.

The choice of power supply was critical for my astronomy equipment power needs. I use the 20 AMP noise suppression filter for good measure as some equipment is very sensitive to noise.

I have had no problems what so ever- The PSU does gets on with the job of supplying good clean DC power.

The LCD display is very easy to read and is good that it is bright as the PSU lives outside in all weathers in a translucent water proof box and has not been turned off for six months now.

Very Good So far By
I got this PowerWerx SPS-30DM to power my Drake R8 because I don't like using the internal AC with my Drake. It also powers a ClearSpeech CLR/DSP box at the same time.
First impression, after I received this PS, was power supply feels really well made. It has some weight to it, and it feels really solid, and looks nice as well. The black metal case and white lettering match my Drake R8 perfectly.
Powering up, the digital display is very bright and is easily read from across the room. In fact, if your using it in a darkened room, the bright red LED numbers may be a bit too bright. You can't dim the display, but what I done to tame the brightness was I went to the auto parts store and got some cling on ( NOT ADHESIVE BACK ) dark window tint. I cut it to fit the display front and now it's perfect. This is just personal preference for me. It's also great to have the volts and Amps displayed together on the front panel.
Performance: This little power supply is rock solid so far. Powering my Drake R8, I have not heard ANY hash, or noise of any kind from the bottom of the LongWave band all the way to 30.000.00 MHz. It's nice, clean and quiet. I really like the Voltage adjustment knob. It has a rubbery feel and a slight stiffness when turning. This slight stiffness makes for precise adjustments without it sliding back or moving when you take your hand away. The voltage is fixed at 14.1 and that I really like. The knobs on the back for connecting your wires, are nice and solid with good strong metal threads no chance of stripping the threads out here while hand tightening to get a tight connection.
The fan is nice and quiet. It doesn't run until it needs to. Also, the AC cord is the type that is used on the back of Computers. So if it ever needed to be replaced, easily found.
The Power supply comes with the voltage set to 240. If you live in North America, make sure you switch it to the 115 position. The switch is on the back and takes about 5 seconds.
Also, this Power Supply comes with a 3 year warranty. One of the best I have found.
This is a very good little power supply. It's small but will handle most anything. It's made well, easy to use and small size won't take up a lot of desk space. Highly recommended.

Good Supply but runs Hot By
I bought this at the same time as the non-metered version which barely runs warm but this one runs quite hot and fan runs almost constantly, Had no problems with it just seems it must be much less efficient than the non-variable non-metered version.

Great Power Supply, Would be perfect if unit could 19 inch rackmount By
Power Supply works great. Where is the rack mounted version? Shows amps and voltage easily. Would be 5 stars if it was rack mountable. Using to Power MotoTrbo XPR DMR radios. Clean DC voltage. Low Noise out of unit, Does not heat up at all, Been running for 6 months 24/7 no issues yet,
