A Great Dualband DMR Radio (UHF/VHF) By Martin By
my only problem is that I did not succeed in installing a USB driver for my Windows 7 home Premium, so far I have not found a proper USB driver so these drivers on the Driver Download side are not for me.

Why the hate towards the software By
I suppose if you have never used Motorola RSS, Motorola CPS, or any of the BK software this might be tough to learn.  I've been screwing around with that stuff for years.  APX is the latest, greatest and it's just awful.  This software is a breeze, nothing is hidden.

Radio's nice too.

Got a lot of pluses but it has some negatives too By
I have now had this radio for a few months.  It is my first digital mode radio.
Pros:  price, support from Powerwerx (thanks David) accessories, has frequent updates in firmware,  does both Analog and Digital holds a lot of data and has a recorder.
Cons: must know your software/firmware uploads and must match versions., has a miserable 'ticking" due to a clock issue in analog,  poor display in the sun (this could be fixed in software with a black background.

Best of the Chinese DMRs By
The guy who couldn't make it interface with his hotspot either doesn't know what he's doing or perhaps was using an old firmware because with the help of the local DMR guru that got me into it, this radio is just awesome.  This is his favorite DMR radio so far, incidentally, though he says the Motorolas outperform it (no surprise at many times the price!).

I can't speak for the programming software because he made the code plug, but he likes it, certainly over the MD-380's.  That said, I, being a ham, don't like code plugs in general and prefer more ordinary non-user-specific programming like you have in D-STAR and FM with CHIRP, RT, etc.

Likewise, there is only one hardware version and it comes with GPS.  You have to turn it on in the settings and make sure the stock antenna or the Motorola duck with GPS receive is attached since it apparently receives GPS through the duck and a regular one I'm guessing will kill the signal.

Anyway, to drive the point home, this radio outperforms the MD-380 with my SharkRF Openspot upstairs in the middle of the building.  They make a wonderful pairing!  The DMR guy also has a Chinaspot (ZUMSpot clone) and it works great with them as well.

You won't be sorry buying this radio!

Meh... By
Great Analog Radio with the 6 Watt transmit.  I have been completely unsuccessful in programming the radio for digital modes.  No real support to explain this process.   I am very disappointed and will only keep the radio for its analog capabilities.   These radios are too complex to leave it to download a plug-in and off you go.  I have tens of hours of trying to program the radio to use my blue DV.  The simple simplex operation should not be this difficult.  Consequently, I will rate this as a  low rating until it is capable of interfacing EASILY to hotspots.

Buy This Radio By
I have had several DMR radios.  This by far is the best.  from the rotary dial to the VFO to the best sounding audio i have heard from a dmr radio.
The software is not the greatest but that is not enough for me to give a 4 star rate.  Anytone is fast to deal with updates as needed.

Great Radio - programming: Grrrrr! By
This is an outstanding radio,  great features,  heads above the others available.   BUT building an extensive Codeplug is a royal PAIN!  The software needs some work.

Features By
The software is a bear to deal with. Definitely not easy like the TYT MD-380 software. I really like the VFO/Channel knob. Unlike other radios that have up/down buttons.

The radio is AWESOME.

A Great Dualband DMR Radio (UHF/VHF) By
The radio works great both on Analog and DMR. The Dual band allows for monitoring both analog and dmr at the same time with the dual display. The switching between the two is fairly quick.

The DMR Audio from the speaker is loud and clear along with reports of great TX Audio.

This is a must have radio for those looking for a dual band HT radio which does both Analog and DMR on VHF/UHF.
